Cargo Cults Unlimited
"Cargo Cults Unlimited" is an exhibition by the Musée d'Ethnographie de Neuchâtel which is centered around the theme of the globalized economy. The exhibition (which runs from Dec. 2023 - Dec. 2024) is set in a makeshift maritime freight port with containers within the maze-like layout of the exhibition featuring unique installations addressing diverse topics relating to the globalalized economy (production and circulation of goods and services).
My drawing for the "Butins" container (titled “Benin Kingdom to Neuchâtel: a Tale of Power, Crises, and Restitution.“) focuses on the economic aspects of a Benin plaque depicting a Portuguese soldier, and highlights the object's journey/transformation, as well as several major crises in human history directly related to its circulation.
